+eebuckeye
I have a SDC with many dsk images. Is it worth getting a Coco2? Are there many games that will not run on a Coco3 for some reason? Is it ok to get a 16k Coco2 and upgrade the memory? Is it easy and inexpensive?
RangerG
I would get the CoCo3, there are some really impressive looking games only playable on the CoCo3. It is backward compatible with almost all of the CoCo1/2 games. However, there are some games only playable on the CoCo1/2, so a true CoCo fanatic would have both systems .
+eebuckeye
I do have a Coco3 with SDC but quite a few games do not appear to work from what I can tell. What are the best games for the Coco3 that you believe show off the system? I am aware of Donkey Kong which is terrific!
jhd
If memory serves, it's only (mostly?) software that uses the semigraphics modes that is unsupported on the Coco 3. When I was in High School, we had a lab full of Cocos; in my senior year (1987), we got some a few Coco 3 computers. We did not have a huge slection of commercial software, but the only thing that would not work properly was some educational software. The disk would boot, but the screen was garbled. Charlie_
There are a few games that don't work with the coco3. I wouldn't say you NEED to get a coco1/2 if you have a 3 already. If you can get a good deal on a 64K model, go for it. One of my favorites, Spectral's Froggie, doesn't work on the coco3

random_rodder
To add a bit to linville's link: http://tandycoco.com/coco2.shtml - some pics of CoCo 2 motherboards are included in the descriptions.
