+Lee Stewart
Cool Lee, I'm willing to bet your usb doesn't do signaling on the rs232 side properly. A 16550 uart rs232 card is like 20$ for most desktops .. worth it I keep an xp machine with a real serial port. Owen has to unplug and plug back in his usb device 2-3 times before it signals correctly. pcie http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815150216 pci http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G28M5166&cm_re=pci_rs232_16550-_-15-150-217-_-Product Greg I have the USB device for my laptop, which obviously is easy to move around. Virtually all of my desktops have on-MB serial ports. I will just have to bite the bullet and move something. I have osteoarthritis, which doesn't make that easy with the anvil of a PEB. Thanks again! ...lee

Greg It's a Lenovo G530 with an expresscard/54 slot. I have looked at an expresscard solution before; but, the Radio-Shack purchase was a spur-of-the-moment deal while I was looking for connectors in a physical store a week or so ago. ...lee
kl99
I don't recommend using Hdx for verifiying a cable connection. As I said before the third party library inpout32.dll used by this tool is not initializing the port the correct way. Therefore you won't have success unless you initialize the port with some other program first, I use DoxBox for that. If you have a Hdx cable (which is non-twisted), you can try my software which is not having troubles with initalizing the serial port on Profilic Chipsets. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/238433-web99-search-your-tifilesdisks-version-01c-released/ It's good enough to verify the cable is working and to get a telecommunication program on the TI, when nothing is on it yet. Here is a video on how easy it is to connect a load the program via RS232 onto the TI-99:http://screencast.com/t/KxffrrrGrD6
