fpet
Hi, I'll be visiting New York soon and would be grateful for some tips for places to visit. Like thrift shops, where you can actually find old hardware. Or other places with relevance for our hobby. Maybe a videogame museum. Or a nice Arcade. Regards, Frank

Greg2600
NYC has several Barcade locations, they are cool. There's one in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and several in Manhattan (W. 24th, St. Mark's). A decent store is 8-bit and Up which is in the East Village.

Clint Thompson
All I can recommend is that you take your time to plan it out properly but it sounds like you're on the right path seeing as how you're asking for advice, so thumbs up! New York was overwhelming for me the first time and I kind of went on a whim so... planning is key imo...

Greg2600
My friends did a great review of many of the city's gaming spots on their podcast. https://ourbrooklynbytes.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/013-barcade-and-the-sega-supercade/

fpet
I have looked up Barcade, and yes, that looks good. I've put them on my map and will try to visit one of them. Depending on my time, I'll pay a visit to Chinatown Fair in Mott St. (hasn't been mentioned here yet) as well.

Great Hierophant
Even though you are not likely to find any vintage video gaming for sale, I'd suggest a stop by the Nintendo World Store, Rockefeller Center, 10 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10020. There will be plenty of nostalgia on display at least. Edited August 30, 2015 by Great Hierophant
