Tkat5200
Hey now I recently acquired an Atari 1200XL that is in great shape. I powered it up and didn't get any picture, just a black screen...for a second a few white lines showed up but never again. there was no audio either...no beeps or chirps...nothing, Power lights on though. Anyone have any ideas what could be the issue.
+DrVenkman
Open it up and look for swollen or leaking capacitors, or broken solder traces or connections. If nothing obvious jumps out at you, it could be any of several different things, some more complicated with others. I'd start to by carefully removing and then re-seating all the socketed chips and seeing if that helps, then take it from there. +bob1200xl
Could be any number of things. The MMU, CPU and ROMs have to work just to get thru RESET. Then you hear a little 'pop' on the speaker and the screen should go totally black. I am in Alameda - bring it over and we can fix it. The keyboard is probably bad, also. We can fix that, but not for almost free. Bob Hey now I recently acquired an Atari 1200XL that is in great shape. +bob1200xl
You hooked up to a monitor, or a TV? Sure you got your plugs right? Bob
RodCastler
Is that an Atari 9V A/C power brick you are using? If not, it should be.
Tkat5200
You hooked up to a monitor, or a TV? Sure you got your plugs right? Bob Yah plugs are right and i'm using the Power Supply that came with it. Power is good as I was able to fire up my 800XL with it...the cable also works as the 800XL was on screen with no issue. I'm not super savy opening this up so I may just send it to you Bob.

The 800XL uses a different type of power adapter. Do you mean 800 rather than 800XL? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
