kynrek
If i use the headphone jack on my sega model 1 while playing 32x games am I "missing out" on sound generated from the 32x (if it even does generate sound)? I have read that the av output from the model 1 only outputs mono.
+FujiSkunk
The 32X does generate some audio, yes, mostly improved digital samples. Using only the headphone jack will make you miss that extra audio. Ideally for the full 32X audio experience you should use a Genesis 2. Greg2600
Not sure if you're noticeably "missing" audio, but stereo is a lot better than mono. I use this cable to get the stereo mix from the jack into the Stereo AV Out from 32X (works with my RGB SCART cable too). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sega-Genesis-1-Megadrive-stereo-32X-PATCH-CABLE-link-adaptor-US-seller-/161588264141?hash=item259f693ccd
kynrek
Greg2600, thanks! I am planning on using scart too. Do i still need that cable if i use a sega cd model 2 with the 32x and model 1 genesis? Do I hook the speakers up to the 32x output or the stereo phono jacks on the sega cd? +FujiSkunk
I should've known somebody would have wired a cable to get stereo from the headphone jack to the 32X. I'll have to pick one of those up too.

Rick Dangerous
Sega was like the early Apple. There is a cable/adaptor for that!! (and I highly recommend purchasing it.
Tenorman
The page below does a good job discussing all the different ways to get audio out of the different Genesis/Sega CD/32X combinations: http://retrorgb.com/segacd.html If i use the headphone jack on my sega model 1 while playing 32x games am I "missing out" on sound generated from the 32x (if it even does generate sound)? Using only the headphone jack will make you miss that extra audio. Ideally for the full 32X audio experience you should use a Genesis 2. This isn't true, the 32X's sound is passed through the Genesis. You will be able to hear everything by using the headphone jack. You can still just take the audio from the headphone jack if you would like.

Ah, cool. I thought the audio would mix the same way the graphics do before being output from the 32X.
