glitch
Does anyone have a list of what 8bit games used the light gun? Preferably playable on a 48k 800. I currently have Bug Hunt & Barnyard Blasters which seem to be the more popular ones and was wondering what else to look for.
+Mitch
Are you talking cart or disk. I think there's only a handful on cart, less than ten. Not very many on disk either for that matter. Mitch
RJ
Crossbow & Crime Buster(s?) on cart but they may be 64K.
glitch
Are you talking cart or disk. Both if you know of them. Carts seem to be a little easier to come by (at least for me). I'll look for crossbow & Crime Busters. Is Crossbow similar to the arcade version?

Also look for: Barnyard Blaster (excellent) Sharp Shooters Bug Hunt (not very good) There's also a program from Antic that you can use to calibrate your light gun. ndary
There are also Special Forces & Operation Blood (operation wolf) Light gun games nir
AtariX
Crime Busters has the best graphics of all of the Atari 8-bit lightgun games that I have played. It is also fun to play. I think it requires 64k though and it might be kinda hard to find. B&C might have it though.
RJ
www.atarisales.com has Crossbow & Crime Busters (both 64K) for $19.95 each. Didn't see the others listed but you can ask if they have them. Free shipping if your order >$25 in lower 48 states.
DracIsBack
You can find most of these on Ebay, pretty easily. I currently have three Light Gun games: Crossbow, which is the best Atari version. The graphics are sharp and it has digitized sound and pretty good gun accuracy. Crime Buster: has good graphics and is fun to play - except for that irritating driving sequence. Ugh. Bug Hunt: This was the XE packin and it kinda sucks. Graphics aren't horrible, but has poor gun accuracy and the game itself is really simple. Is "Operation Blood" a cartridge? adonis_minus_20
I was looking to get Crime Busters and Sharp Shooters, but are these games really any good? I did get Crossbow already and it is excellent. Barnyard Blaster is OK but is not as enjoyable to play as Crossbow (Crossbow has more screens and I think the gameplay is more compelling). Using Crossbow as a reference, how do Crime Busters and Sharp Shooters stack up, regarding lightgun accuracy, number of unique screens, enjoyable gameplay, etc. Jim
+CharlieChaplin
Lightgun games for the A8?!? Well, read the A8FAQ by Michael Current. Somewhere you will find a section: "What Lightgun games are there..." which counts most (if not all) available A8 Lightgun games. Sorry, since I do not own a 48k Atari, I did not list which games will run on Ataris that are smaller than 64kbytes... greetings, Andreas Magenheimer. Well, since you're reviving this thread, I should mention that a eBay seller has been hawking copies of Alien Blast for the XE. It's a disk-based light gun version of "Space Invaders"...and isn't a game that you'd want to go very far out of your way to acquire. The seller does ship really quickly, though. Goochman
Crime Busters is alot of fun. I enjoyed Crossbow and Barnyard Blasters. Bug Hunt was ok but I think its accuracy isnt very good.
adonis_minus_20
I ended up getting both Crime Busters and Sharp Shooter. Crime Busters was very good with good graphics and enjoyable gameplay. Sharp Shooter is a very simple game, although it is still OK to play. I still rank Crossbow as the best lightgun game for the 8 bit. Jim
Brad2600
I own a light gun for my XE but I'm not sure what games work on it. I do have Bug Hunt. I just got it so I have yet to test it out..power supply issues.
