VectorGamer
Just bought the trackball for the 5200 and I'm rocking out some Missile Command like a boss. Fired up the conversion of Crystal Castles and Bentley only moves in one direction. What the heck mane? Or was this already converted with trackball support and I just missed it? Lynxpro
That was ported over from the first Atari 8-bit version of the game. There's two different A8 versions of Crystal Castles. The second one was done for the XE Game System - years later - and uses its 64K RAM (supposedly). It's been claimed that every 8-bit version of Crystal Castles - from the 2600 to A8/5200 - has too busy of a kernel that it taxes the CPU so much it would be impossible to add native Trak-Ball mode to those games. Now that claim was made before about 2600 Centipede and Millipede and Thomas and OmegaMatrix tweaked the code and made the impossible possible but they don't work on A8/5200 games. For now, you'll just have to enjoy the fact that the 5200 has a large number of its titles that do support the Trak-Ball natively.
+playsoft
It's only "joystick mode" type control but here's Classics' port modified for a trak-ball in port 2. cctb.bin
