Milli V
I am considering converting my Adamlink into a serial interface (or making a new one from scratch using it as the model). The 8251 that is in it is a complete USART and has (from what I can see) all the necessary serial RS232 outputs coming off it. What is the possibility of wiring an RS232 port into it and bypassing the modem analog circuitry? I would have to leave the baud generator but I should be able to set it for a higher baud as long as I do not use the phone interface. Has been done in the past? NIAD
It is possible to convert the Adamlink Modem to a Serial Interface and it was actually done by Syd Carter in the late 80's or early 90's. He wrote an article that appeared in many newsletters including the NIAD Newsletter. The PDFs are available on Joe B's site, so you'll just have to search thru them to find the article.
