R4ngerM4n
Someone has information about the Axlon 256 memory system? Are there any tests in magazines or official announcements? How is the unit connected to the Atari computer? Looking forward to your replies,
Kyle22
There is a somewhat long thread about 800 memory here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/177885-atari-800-ram-selection/ Around page 3 they start discussing extended RAM systems such as Axlon type upgrades. How do you connect it? Just plug it in the middle slot.
R4ngerM4n
I am talking about an external unit. It's not the 128K memory board to be plugged into the 800s extension slot.
R4ngerM4n
Someone at ebay is offering an old ad (enlarged to poster size). Please check at ebay 381553428082
Rybags
I would guess it has 8 slots giving the possible 256K assuming 32K modules used in that case. Likely it has a cable interface to the Atari 800 and I would think you'd populate the first and third slot with 16K modules then have an interface module going into the second slot. Can't remember reading anything about it back in the day - though before the XL, anything over 48K was fantasy-land for most of us.
Kyle22
That would be a rare find. I hope you locate one.
TXG/MNX
i guess its a memory cart with flat cable to the external box adding 8 slots. I only got the axlon 128KB upgrade for the 800 overhere, never did see it, maybe its also never made, maybe some ex-employee of Axlon can tell us if it really made it to production. fibrewire
It was an external ram device with power supply, and had a ribbon cable that connected to several adapters that fit different computers. Like most 3rd party gear from the day, it was designed for the Apple II primarily, then many other computers soon followed. Never saw an official Atari 800 adapter, but the apple II adapter I had was super simple in its design. I might even have some pictures somewhere, but don't hold your breath. ClausB
Some details at the bottom of the webpage below. Sounds like it predated their 128K RAMdisk. http://fusionanomaly.net/atari.html

+Stephen
I believe there was an interface card for the Atari 800 that fit in the middle ram slot Hey fibre. Long time no see. Cool ad, but holy hell - "RAM Memory" flares my OCD as bad as "VIN Number", and "ATM Machine". Rant over.
fibrewire
Designed for Apple but using Atari RAM boards? Really? ClausB is correct, I think the one I had was a 320K device, the one for the atari is nearly identical but definitely for the Atari
