+Ksarul
You have to use the 27C800--a 42-pin, 1Mx8 chip. You can't use the 801s, as they have a completely wrong pin-out. . .You can also use the 27C400 (512Kx8) or the other 16-bit chips in this family down to 128Kx8. Note, these chips work as 8-bit or as 16-bit chips. We use them in the 8-bit mode. Edited February 28, 2016 by Ksarul
+Ksarul
The equivalent chips from the Maxim 29F series work as well (the appropriate 2MB chip from that family is the 1615).
mantadoc
Ooh that explain why it won't work thanks
mantadoc
Do they have the same connections ? Same memory capacity ?
+Ksarul
It is really simple with the Yellow boards--if the EPROM has less than 40 pins, it will NOT work. The 512K chips that work are the 27C400 and the 27C4100. Both are 40-pin chips. Willem-based programmers won't be able to program these without a 16-bit chip adapter. . .it was the main reason I initially only sold these boars as a complete cartridge, as I had the necessary hardware to program them already.
