Dutchman2000
As per the wishes of the original programmer John Seghers, here is the final version of Xari Arena dated 9-20-83. This was recovered from a ROM file saved onto an 8-inch disk created by their VAX system at Atari. The ROM file on the disk was not a binary file, so some work had to be done to make it into a cartridge binary. Albert
Thanks for your work on tracking down this game and making this final version of the game available. It's one of the few original titles for the 5200, and it really shines on the system. And it supports the Trak-Ball controllers, and even tow Trak-Ball controllers for simultaneous, two-player action, which is a blast! I even enjoy playing it with the stock 5200 joystick controller. ..Al
jaybird3rd
Thanks, Dutchman2000! I'm planning on picking up Xari Arena from the AtariAge Store. Is this final version the same version that's sold in the store?
Dutchman2000
This is the same version that is being sold in the AtariAge Store.
Greg2600
Does this work on the AtariMax SD? Won't boot for me.
Dutchman2000
It's a two chip 16k ROM.

Dutchman2000
Works on my flash cart. I don't have the SD version so I can't check for you.

jaybird3rd
IS this the version that is being sold on cart in the atariage store? I asked the exact same question a few posts back. Yes, it's the same version; see Dutchman2000's response in Post #4.
killersquirel
Thanks Jaybird. This is what happens when you are in a rush to go to work and don't read all the messages with care.
Greg2600
Has anyone out there (besides me) tried this on the SD Ultimate?
+Allan
Has anyone out there (besides me) tried this on the SD Ultimate? It doesn't work on my SD cart either. Allan
Dutchman2000
You need to tell the system it is a 2 chip 16k cart. It works that way with my flashcart. There has to be a way to tell the SD cart what type it is.
CPUWIZ
Quickly glancing at the binary, I think you can do this: 8K filled with $FF First half of binary 8K filled with $FF Second half of binary That should give you a working 32K image. EDIT: I tried this and Albert says it does not work. Curious.
Supergun
What about the original binary (the Sean Kelly multicart rom) Is it possible to simply "patch" that one using the guts from the new one? (dress up the new binary in a similar format)
