rapoza609
Is a non working commodore PET worth anything? What about an Educator 64? I have an opportunity to buy each for $25. I'm not terribly concerned with getting them working again. I'm more interested in them for their relevance to computing history.
carlsson
Absolutely! $25 each is a good price if you have the room. Most PETs can be fixed with more or less work. Sometimes just reseating chips can be enough, but more often you need to troubleshoot.
BurritoBeans
I'm with carlsson - 25 is pretty good for a PET if you have space, even not working, and same with an Educator 64. I would love a deal like that just for the fun of fixing them as I love that kind of stuff, but, they're cool too as show pieces if that's all you want them for.
CRTGAMER
I own an Educator 64 a very cool PET converted computer. The screen is green which adds to the novelty; you can run a Composite or SVideo video (and Audio) out to your TV to get the color.
7800fan
Educator 64 is kind of like C64 in PET skin. An oddball idea but cool one to have. And $25 is very good price. Even if you don't fix it, you can still part it out and get a lot more back.
SSG
A PET would be awesome.
Bill Loguidice
An Educator 64 is a highly sought after collectible, so that's a steal of a price.
7800fan
That reminds me I still need to do something with my PET. Remove the 8032 board, the Waterloo board, the big ass transformer and capacitor, and drop in something like mid range i5 build. Replace the icky mono CRT with similar sized LCD and replace the SuperPET banner with IntelPET banner.
rapoza609
I just picked up the Commodore PET and an Educator 64. I tried to upload photos but it never seems to work and I've tried from different phones and my computer.
7800fan
When adding a post, click More Reply Options in the bottom of reply to get a different page. On the bottom of the new page there is a button to attach files, try using that. I've had some trouble uploading from my Android phone (imgur and Facebook) so I just copy files over to my desktop or laptop and use those instead. rapoza609
Yeah, that's how I'm doing it but it's not attaching to the post. I've tried from different devices and computers. Doesn't work
