Just got a Jag, Powers On, No Video or Audio

Hey all, sorry to re-hash an old(ish) post. I decided to take the jaguar apart to see if there was anything obvious that might be a problem. Noticed everything is onboard, no real ribbon cables or connectors of any description. I've attached some pictures - does anything look odd to anyone?

Just to add - all capacitors look OK, no bulges.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I had some traces on my Jaguar's PCB literally rot out (due to humidity? have no idea really why). I had to solder in some jumper wires to make it work again. So you might want to look at the traces to make sure that they're all good and solid, assuming that all of the other components look good.

Thanks for that. In which area did you experience the problem and Ill start there. I've never done any soldering on consoles so its a bit of a nervy area for me! There are 3 bits of solder that look like hooks on it too (as per the pictures). Are they normal?

It was on the side of the board with the cart connector, on the right side near the cart connector. Here's what it looked like:

Of course, if you do have that problem, it will probably be on some other part of the board.

Hi all,

Little updated for you. Ive had a look at the traces around the AV connectors, they look a bit suspect. The RF connectors are harder to work out. I've ordered an RF lead to try that and see if we get anything on the screen if so I'll post my findings.

All the best

OK so the RF lead has turned up and I have discovered something rather odd. The RF input on the back of the Jaguar is too small to plug in the RF lead. I tried another Jaguar (fully working) and the input is the right size so no problems plugging it in.

Any ideas?? They look pretty identical at the back, but the input is too small.

Add me to this list. Atari powers on with a game, but no audio or video. Not even a red screen. Nothing. I've tried through RF and RGB Scart to a PVM and the XRGB Mini. I've used multiple power adapters (one fro retrodcpowered.com and a Genesis model 1 adapter). Powers on and the LED isn't dim. Also nothing visibly has blown on the board. No idea where to go from here now.

I just picked up a Jaguar that was listed as, may not work, can't test , etc from EBay. Unit powers up, but no audio or video output, cleaned the connector for the cartridge, verified power supply, cable RF and AV composite cable, nothing, All of hte cables, and cartridges work in my other Jaguar. Any ideas?
