Just a step down transformer from the mains. Nothing else. This part hadn't changed in well over 100 years since AC won out over DC for power grid in USA and in the world. Is there any benefit or drawbacks to using a switching DC power supply, then using a DC-AC inverter to supply to 9V AC, assuming one with sufficient amperage is available?
