karokoenig
Paddle weeks! Sweet! I suck at most paddle games, but I love those controllers.

MGS
Question: Does anyone have any good recommendations for emulating paddle games without the paddle controllers on a PC (I know, it sucks) or resources that discuss this issue? Also, what's the best way you've found to connect paddle or paddle-type controllers to Stella? Feel free to PM me too if you don't want to fill up this thread. karokoenig
Tough call, MGS. Many 9-pin USB adapters can't do paddles, and it's hard to find out which actually do. At least in my experience. I'd be happy to hear suggestions as well :-). For a quick game on Stella, mouse works alright - but still a far cry from the real thing.

Atarian7
864 And it only took me 180 minutes to do it. LOL Now on to game 5A.
S.BAZ
Also, what's the best way you've found to connect paddle or paddle-type controllers to Stella? The best way I've found is the Stelladapter (unfortunately no longer available). I got lucky & found somebody offering one in the marketplace here. maybe you can find someone offering one. I've also heard of other products like it. paddles work almost perfectly with Stelladapter, there is just a slight delay but it's easy to get used to

karokoenig
Alright. Got Game 1BB covered, first attempt, first life, no big deal. How do you guys take photos of your time in Game 5? Die on purpose as quick as possible or have the camera ready to fire? I finished the board at about 215 seconds, but the timer kept running. Meanwhile my camera had gone into standby mode. That lazy old piece of machinery takes about 10 seconds to get back to business, and then I have to manually switch off the flashlight... Hence the slightly panicky less than sharp shot with 229 seconds on the clock. So here's the scores as my camera was able to record them: Game 1BB: 864 and finished. Game 5AA: 229 (215) seconds for one rack. Edited May 23, 2016 by karokoenig
Atarian7
Good question. Even if you lose all your lives on purpose once you're finished you will still be losing a few seconds.
classicgamer_27330
I'm stuck with the keyboard, 59
Atarian7
Game 5A: 143 Actually 140-141 but it took 2-3 seconds for the last ball to drop A faster time is possible of course. In the twin galaxies Timed Decathlon several years ago I cleared 1B both sets in 4 minutes 22 seconds. So that would be 131 for one set. And someone got under 4 minutes so an even faster time than that is possible.
karokoenig
I'm stuck with the keyboard, 59 Keyboard is pretty much impossible. Even the touchpad of a laptop will give you much better results. Mouse works okay. Game 5A: 143 Actually 140-141 but it took 2-3 seconds for the last ball to drop That's a REALLY good time. I wouldn't have thought that times under 150 are even possible. Nice work!

+KaeruYojimbo
Also, what's the best way you've found to connect paddle or paddle-type controllers to Stella? I haven't used it, but I've heard good things about the 2600-daptor and it's still available.
S.BAZ
417 Since we're on the honor system, we can accept (5A) times even though it may be a few seconds off from the pic. just remember your time & post what pic you have. This will also keep it fair for those of us who don't find it convenient to record video.

RJ
Ok, hold on here. So in game 5a we're supposed to time how long it takes to get rid of the whole wall? Or break THROUGH it? (which is what Id consider a "breakout") For a prisoner to break out" of his cell, he wouldnt have to knock down the whole wall, just make a hole in it big enough to get out. karokoenig
Complete wall in game 5A. Or as we Snooker players call it: a total clearance.
