Airshack
Check this out! Nice to see photos of the case and interior. Wondering if the plans for this system survived? http://www.ebay.com/itm/TI-99-8-with-Hexbus-Disk-Drive-Tested-Works-with-some-problems-TI99-4A/131831647887?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D36538%26meid%3D21bcd6d8d7b3451b9a99a404572532c8%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D301967201533
+Ksarul
I put pretty much all of the system documentation (including the schematics for both motherboard variants) up on the WHTech site a number of years ago. That includes the internal logic diagrams for four out of the five special purpose chips designed for the /8. On the one that is missing the internals, there is enough data up there that it could probably also be reconstituted.
Arnuphis
Oh good lord. Time to sell that kidney.Would love to see some 99/8's made like the C64 Reloaded project.
+OLD CS1
Oh good lord. Time to sell that kidney. Would love to see some 99/8's made like the C64 Reloaded project. The C64 and Amiga Reloaded projects both rely on exiting chips -- 6526, 6581, 8580, PLA, VIC-II, etc (though you can by a modern PLA replacement,) and associated custom Amiga chips. The problem with doing a 99/8 Reloaded would be the availability of "real" 99/8 chips. I think we would be more likely to see something like a multi-FPGA implementation of the 99/8 along the line of the Minimig. Still a cool idea
Tornadoboy
Somebody grab it, reverse engineer everything and do some repros!

+Ksarul
Actually, I have two. . .along with a handful of motherboards and other spare parts. I also put all of the technical documentation for these systems up on WHT a few years ago (after sifting through the documentation collections of three of the original engineers to see if a complete set of the specifications survived--only a few documents are missing from that collection). kl99
The 99/8 sold for buy now for 3699 usd. Anyone knows who bought it?

+save2600
Simply based on cost, I'd guess someone outside of the U.S. And looking at his previous bidding history (foreign stamps), am probably right.
Arnuphis
I heard the US Department of Defense bought it to upgrade the IBM Series/1 in their nuclear missile silo.

+OLD CS1
I heard the US Department of Defense bought it to upgrade the IBM Series/1 in their nuclear missile silo. Complete rumor. There are no 8" floppy interfaces for the 99/8. https://defensesystems.com/articles/2014/04/29/af-8-inch-floppies-icbm-launch.aspx
+Ksarul
Actually, the DSDD DSR supports them. . .and there was a mod advertised BITD that would allow the regular TI card to work with them as well.
