First Spear
I started with a Franklin Ace 1000 back in late 80/81. Have been into everything for the ][ over time, going to an Ace 2200 and then a Laser 128, then 128/ex, and finally a //GS in 1991 or so. The //GS gets a little use now and then. So, hi! I have been on the Intellivison AA foums here for years, and somehow just discovered this hangout. But I'm glad I did!
iKarith
I'm also new to using this forum, but not to retrocomputing the Apple // and certainly not to using Apples. Welcome!

iKarith
Apple //e has been pulling the Laser 128EX's hair again. *sigh*
ianoid
I got a few Franklins lately- a 1000 with a bad keyboard (EVERY key doesn't work- could be a fault or just a bad kind of keyboard) and a 1000 with the two disk drives (which doesn't really work, and even the drives don't work when tested with another computer). They are huge, although not inelegant for a knock off. Neat to hear you started out on one. I think many of us upgraded our Apple IIs once or twice. I'm surprised when anyone made it to the IIgs, because at that point there were so many great 16 bit options. Dungeon Master alone would have sold me on the IIgs, but I ended up with a PC clone. I seem to recall reading recently that the Franklin's use a Foam Pad as part of the Contact Mechanism, and these Wear Out over time... You will need to contact a Franklin Specialist for repair Instructions... If you do Facebook, there is an Apple ][ Group that has some members that have Franklins.. ianoid
I got rid of one at Classic Game Fest (as-is for $30, which is at a loss) and the other I don't think I'll deal with right now. I posted at the Facebook group but didn't get any response. Thanks!
