landsmarra
Hi guys, Can someone tell me what's involved in making an NTSC 2600 compatible with PAL carts? That's assuming it is even feasible. Thanks, Steve
benjam138
All you need is a TV with a vertical hold knob. The TV I use is a small older one I found at a thrift for $15.00. I've heard you can fix a more modern TV, but there is a chance it could be permanately damaged. Hope this helps!
Video
'some' Pal games scroll on a NTSC set. If you got V hold though, it shouldn't matter, just adjust it. Beyond that, the games are going to be off colored because I believe the addresses for colors are different on NTSCS and Pal machines. And Pal doen't sport as many colors either. I think that's right.
Albert
I often use Commodore 1702 monitors with Atari 2600s, and those also have a vertical hold. This is useful when I need to test PAL versions of games. ..Al
Xot
Many new television sets also accept the PAL signal and display it properly without the need for a vertical hold knob. Pick up a single PAL game - they're easy enough to find - and see if it rolls. Of course, if you have a V-hold knob like previously suggested, you're all ready set to go PAL crazy!! Lord-Chaos
Are the colors wrong when you use PAL games on NTSC systems ? When I play for example a sports game like International Soccer or Super Challenge Baseball , everything that should be green is now blue. This can look quite funny in some games. Thimo Yes, this is normal. It's not usually quite so pronounced in my experience, though.
