The Retrogaming Times - Bimonthly Retrogaming Hobbyist Newsletter

I didn't personally write that article, any comments concerning a column should be directed toward its respective journalist - an e-mail link is provided under the byline of each article, as well as on the main index staff contact list.

I don't believe he ever posts here these days, so directly addressing an announcement post as if it's responding to the specific columnist who wrote a well-written musing about an upcoming product is essentially the equivalent of spitting into the wind.

No worries. My mistake. I figured you were the writer considering all of the posts and promos you were doing here. Thanks for clarifying.

To your original post that we should hire a PR team... yes... we have a world class PR team. In fact, the same folks that launched the Pokemon franchise, the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS. We're in good hands.

Good deal. A redacted / edited post is just that, redacted. I unintentionally hit Post while in the process of rewording some things and corrected the error immediately.

Hi,

I appreciate that the newsletter is talking about and covering Amico, but I wanted to clarify some of the wrong information in the article.

However while their emphasis is on local multiplayer, the videos they have shown so far of their games and remakes seem to confusingly only show single player gameplay with no multi-player footage.

That statement is just not true.  Please check out our YouTube page and you'll see things like...

and...

It's not like physical copies of games will be sitting on store shelves to act as a form of advertising or marketing for the thing, and look at how quickly "everyone" forgot about the Ouya without physical games on the shelves to remind them.  Heck, look at the money and advertising that Sony put behind the PlayStation Vita, and yet without lots of physical games sitting on retail shelves to remind people that it is still alive and getting new games, most people figured the Vita (ironically meaning "life") was dead long ago.

Once again... this information is not correct.  We do have physical media.  I've said it many times in interviews, here on AA and of course... it's listed on our website as well.

It would be nice to play some Imagic, Atari, and Intellivision remakes though, such as Tempest, Centipede, Adventure, Miner 2049'er, Moon Patrol, Yars' Revenge, and Thin Ice.  However, as some or all of these will probably be ported to PC or consoles eventually, we can likely purchase them gradually via, say, Steam in the next few years without an Intellivision Amico.  And ironically, if that happens, we'll be able to play them with Steam's Remote Play Together to play local co-operative and competitive games with the local multiplayer portions both offline and online contrary to only on a couch or chairs in the same room as the Amico's designers envisioned.

Wrong info once again. Games will NOT be ported to PC/Steam or any other console.  This information is on our website, almost every interview I've done and spoken about at length in this forum as well.

If anyone is interested in getting updated and proper information, please feel free to ask me questions over in the Amico Q&A thread right on this forum here:

Thanks again for covering Amico.  I just want to ensure the proper information is getting out there.

A quick reminder if you haven't seen it in our last couple issues, September 2022 will be our final issue and a celebration of 25 years since the first issue of the original Retrogaming Times was published. That's right, we'll be celebrating a quarter century!

Aside from everyone on the staff / deadlines list for the current newsletter, if you contributed to the original RETROGAMING TIMES, BIT AGE TIMES, or RETROGAMING TIMES MONTHLY, then please get into contact with me via the Chief Editor contact at classicplastic.net/trt as soon as possible!

If you contributed to ANY era of a "Retrogaming Times" newsletter we want you to be a part of this special issue with a special alumni-only column! We're continuing to attempt to contact as many people as possible but 25 years is a long time to keep e-mail addresses active!

Also of course, submissions are always open for anyone - even if you haven't contributed before. Just send your articles in to the Chief Editor contact. If you have some questions before sending something in, the contact is the same! Join a great retrogaming tradition as we say farewell to four newsletters, three generations, and twenty-five years since it all began!
