Fighting Atari 2600?

I looked around the 2600 library and realized that most games are arcade style. I was wondering, is there any fighting style games for it? I am a huge fan of Atari 2600, but I'm also a fan of fighting games.

There's Activision's Boxing and Kung Fu Master. Kung Fu Superkicks by telegames. Joust? Gangster Alley?

Unfortunately there really aren't any games in the Atari 2600 library that we would think of as fighting games from a modern perspective. As in, a 2D side view 1 vs 1 fighting game with life bars like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat. The closest thing you'll to a fighting game is probably Realsports Boxing, which is a total button masher but can still be fun in short bursts.

 

I've been really hoping that a homebrew developer would make a fighting game for the Atari 2600 or 7800 for a while now, but sadly it hasn't happened yet.

There's also a bad port of Double Dragon, but that's not strictly a fighting game either.

 

I know there have been attempts at homebrew fighting games, but the only finished one that comes to mind right away is Atarena, which can be found here:
