Eltigro
It's close enough... Sega Master System Shooting Gallery - 15 min (More Phaser Phun!) SNES Darius Twin - 30 min (Was messing around with the Game Genie I got recently... went through this invincible.) Mega Man X - 35 min (Played this for a bit with "infinite energy"... I could still get killed by spikes or falling or whatever though...) Raiden Trad - 37 min (Played through this one invincible. Still ended up dying once. /shrug) Super R-Type - 35 min (Invincible again. This one is quite a bit different than regular R-Type... haven't played it as much...) Ineligible XBox One - Forza 6 - about 4.5 hours (This time was only three races. They were all "endurance" type races. The longest was just over 2 hours long.) XBox 360 - Bioshock Infinite - 1 hour (Finally started this one up after buying it almost a month ago. Not far into it and figure that if I play any more tonight/this year, it'll probably be this one and therefore won't affect the tracker any.) Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!
zylon
I'm finishing off the year by packing up things to take back with me to GA from Mom's house. This time, I'm digging out my 1st 2600 that I bought used in the mid 80s. Best $10 I ever spent. Bit dusty, but still going. Happy new year Edited January 1, 2018 by zylon

+thegoldenband
My times for the week: Atari 2600: 15 - 3 min. Chuck Norris Superkicks - 61 min. Maciste in Hell - 2 min. Merlin's Walls - 2 min. Omicron - 2 min. Palomino - 2 min. Porky's - 3 min. RoboMechanik - 6 min. Apple II: Mystery House - 199 min. ColecoVision: Chuck Norris Superkicks - 106 min. NES: 3-D WorldRunner - 5 min. Arkista's Ring - 1 min. Chack'n Pop - 3 min. Circus Charlie - 4 min. Little Samson - 11 min. Tennis - 452 min. Genesis: Man Overboard! S.S. Lucifer - 35 min. Beat Superkicks on the Atari 2600 -- and tried to beat the CV version, which unfortunately turns out to never end -- as well as Tennis on the NES. Thoughts on both here. Otherwise, I progressed a few levels in Man Overboard, played a little Little Samson, and worked on Mystery House with my wife. We'd hoped to add that one to our 2017 victories, but after running into some irritatingly obtuse roadblocks typical of early text adventures, it looks like it'll have to wait until 2018.

Skippy B. Coyote
For the final week of this year I'll be doing pictures and a writeup to cover the past two weeks of gaming in my household, since last week was such a busy week that I never had a day where I felt like I had time to just sit down and write for a while. When I wasn't busy doing stuff with family I was caught up trying to sneak in a few minutes of gaming time here and there, but I have a feeling that's how the past couple weeks have gone for many of you. Also, I just learned that a Galaxy Style New 3DS XL is nearly impossible to photograph well with my camera. Last Week IneligibleClubhouse Games (Nintendo DS) - 134 minutesJerry Rice & Nitus' Dog Football (Nintendo Wii) - 303 minutesThe Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo Wii) - 1,080 minutesPC-DOSFinal Doom - 35 minutesPlayStationBust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition - 51 minutesDuke Nukem: Total Meltdown - 189 minutesSega Genesis (Emulated on Nintendo Wii)Raiden Trad - 30 minutesTotal Play Time This Week1,822 minutes (30 hours 22 minutes) [305 minutes eligible]Individual System Play Times This WeekNintendo Wii: 1,383 minutesPlayStation: 240 minutesNintendo DS: 134 minutesPC-DOS: 35 minutesSega Genesis: 30 minutes This Week IneligibleAR Games (Nintendo 3DS) - 18 minutesClubhouse Games (Nintendo DS) - 47 minutesThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (Nintendo 3DS) - 513 minutesResident Evil: Revelations Demo (Nintendo 3DS) - 25 minutesStreetPass Mii Plaza (Nintendo 3DS) - 55 minutesPlayStationDuke Nukem: Total Meltdown - 846 minutesSega GenesisSonic the Hedgehog 2 (played on 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for 3DS) - 10 minutesTotal Play Time This Week1,514 minutes (25 hours 14 minutes) [856 minutes eligible]Individual System Play Times This WeekPlayStation: 846 minutesNintendo 3DS: 611 minutesNintendo DS: 47 minutesSega Genesis: 10 minutes Tidying up these last two weeks of the year I spent a ton of time playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess in the hopes of finishing it off before the end of the year, and last week I did just that! In spite of the game's rather enormous 40+ hour length I thought every minute of it was an absolute joy to play, and I was actually rather sad when it was over. Fortunately I ended up getting a Galaxy Style New 3DS XL for Christmas this year, so the day after Christmas I ran out and bought The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D to start in on another timeless Zelda classic. When I wasn't playing Zelda games over the last couple weeks I also put in a fair bit of time trying out one of the Wii's stranger titles: Jerry Rice & Nitus' Dog Football. To quote IGN, "Jerry Rice and Nitus' Dog Football is a pure representation of all things Wii. It's family-oriented. It's motion-controlled. It's populated with happy, smiling cartoon avatars, it's based on the preposterous concept of dogs suiting up in uniforms and playing football against each other and, to really top it all off, it's actually presented by the voice and likeness of one of the best players in NFL history. And his dog." In other words, if you like the Wii and the totally bizarre premise of dogs playing football then you'll have a lot of fun with it for the $5.99 + shipping that you can buy a new copy direct from the company that produced it. If you're not a fan of the Wii or the concept though then you might want to pass. Personally I thought it was wonderful and I can definitely see myself playing this game a whole lot more in the near future. As far as the misses' gaming time for the last two weeks went, she ended up getting enormously frustrated with the sluggish and unresponsive controls in Tenchu 2: Stealth Assassins so she shelved that game and—after a couple games of Bust-A-Move 2—decided to give Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown another try. It ended up being another game with complicated and challenging controls (especially when playing with an arcade stick) but once she got a feel for it she ended up really liking this PlayStation port of the DOS classic Duke Nukem 3D. After completing the first of the 4 episodes of the game in a single day and having a great time with it she decided to make it her goal to complete the rest of the game by the end of the year. Her plan was going really well for the first 3 episodes that make up the original DOS version of Duke Nukem 3D, but once she got to the PlayStation exclusive 4th episode "Plug and Pray" she hit a bit of a brick wall. The first level alone was as difficult as the title would suggest, but she ended up sticking with and it and grinding it out through the holiday weekend until she finally finished the entire game on December 31st! She was thrilled to have beaten it in just the nick of time, and it earned her some serious congratulations from me since I don't think I could have beaten that final PS1 exclusive episode with any controller; let alone an arcade stick. Well, I think that about covers everything for the last two weeks of the year! I'll have some year end statistics for my household to share at some point within the next few days, but for now thank you to everyone who participated in this tracker and took the time to read my longwinded posts every week for the last year. You guys are all awesome and I'll be looking forward to sharing in another great year of gaming with you in 2018! BurritoBeans
Closing it out weak... NES: Action 52 - 400 minutes Well, this week turned from "one more Ultima!" to "memes!" with Action 52... we ended up having an event at work the day before New Year's Eve in which we had people come in and compete at arcades and console games for some prizes. I brought my Action 52 carts in because I thought "well this could be amazing, have people play something like Cheetahmen or Ooze and see who can get the farthest" which ended up making people just get mad - it was quite entertaining seeing people not figure out that to jump you need to jump and then hit forward, etc. and getting really frustrated at it. Since anyone on the game was done quick I ended up getting a bunch of time playing and ran through as much as I could - I ended up getting through Level 2 in Ooze a few times (it crashes after level 2, woohoo...) and ran a bunch of other little games since I haven't given the cart that much playtime. I can't say it was by any means enjoyable, but it was entertaining now and then. So yeah... pretty much I took a challenge in which I have to use an Apple II as my main PC for all of January - I'm only allowed to use plain PCs for simple internet tasks or school uses - and I'm going to try to stick to just that as best as I can until either I cave in or I can't stand the "internet" which it has via addon cards and whatnot. Expect to see me clear the last few Ultima titles and then maybe one or two more things, I'm trying to think of other stupid things to use during this time so Game.com may also make an appearance even though I've been dreading playing most of those games again.

Duke Nukem: Total Meltdown is also the last new member to join the 1000-minute club in 2017, slotting into spot #313 (EDIT: actually #314) with 1150 minutes logged to date. +thegoldenband
Now for the top systems of 2017 (though the list is all-inclusive, i.e. with all 87 platforms that were played in 2017). This year it's the Atari 2600 in the top position once again, while the SNES grabs the #2 spot and the PlayStation hangs on to its #3 finish from last year, with the Genesis and TI-99/4A rounding out the Top 5. Just as was the case in 2016, the VCS would have won even without Kaboom, proving that it can more than hold its own against newer systems. Top systems of 2017: 1. Atari 2600 (49997) 2. +thegoldenband
Next we have the new arrivals into the 1000-minute club for 2017. The first number is their gameplay time in 2017, and the number in parentheses is their total gameplay time to date. I've discovered one eligible game was overlooked in Week 26, as Pole Position for Atari 2600 should have gotten what would have been spot #291 (with 1233 minutes as of that week). It's been added now. The club is getting jam-packed, as we added 66 members this year! Maybe it's time to get more elitist, and go with a 2500- or 5000-minute club instead... +thegoldenband
And finally, we have the honor roll of the top games of all time, including all games with over 1000 minutes logged (a very big club at this point!). These year-end, all-time totals are complete all the way back through the founding of the tracker in 2008. Some reached these heights thanks to one lone gamer, while others saw contributions from many different participants. But all have earned their place here, and none more so than our #1 game, Kaboom, which obviously dominates the field by an order of magnitude. However, we have a big new entry in our all-time Top 10, as Lawnmower Man grabs the #2 spot. It edges out homebrew Christmas Carol, which moves down to #3 but increases its lead somewhat over DOS title Silent Hunter -- now at #4, with Galaxian VCS close behind at #5. Spots #6-9 are a reshuffling of last year's #5-8, with Pac-Man Collection moving up to #6 and rapidly approaching the 10000-minute club. Meanwhile Suikoden II jumps to #10 from last year's #32. Finally note Missile Command at #11, up from #16 last year: will it add a fourth VCS game to the all-time Top 10 in 2018? Top games of all time (and members of the 1000-minute club): 1. +thegoldenband
As a (yearly) bonus, here are the all-time numbers for all 128 systems we've ever logged (up 16 from last year). Obviously the Atari 2600 is still king! Otherwise, the all-time #2 Sega Genesis increases its slender lead over the NES at #3, while the biggest change is the arrival of the SNES at #6, up from #9 this time last year. Its old spot is now claimed by the TI-99/4A, which was #11, as the Game Boy drops two spots from last year's #8, and DOS falls out of the Top 10 completely. All-time totals by system: 1. Eltigro
Amazing numbers! Crazy that The Lawnmower Man was pretty much all one person. And looking at its total time (all time), there was only like 6 minutes for that game before this year.
