bradhig1
I held pause and reset while powering on my 7800. What is this love sick thing chasing me? Edited January 13, 2017 by bradhig1
+save2600
Can't tell, but seems you've discovered the wrong orientation bug in your phone but good! So much for "smart" phones!
toiletunes
Cool! You found the 'Arcade Orientation' Easter egg! You have to turn your TV on its side to play.
Trebor
I held pause and reset while powering on my 7800. What is this love sick thing chasing me? Al*bertha. (Seriously, that's its name). There are two different "Pause" related Easter Eggs, the question is: What is the other "Pause" Easter Egg? Also, try finishing in last place (a few times) with a SaveKey/AtariVox attached, for some more Easter Egg goodness.
bradhig1
I rotated it. Why did it rotate the first time I posted it
bradhig1
The only other thing I found using pause was on the game select screen pushing pause changes the joystick orientation
Trebor
The only other thing I found using pause was on the game select screen pushing pause changes the joystick orientation That's a feature, not an egg. To be fair, here is a clue the community was provided around a decade ago... "When you are turning the 7800 on, if you pause to think about it a little, then once you start a game, if you do the right thing, it should not be too difficult to make a change."
Dauber
Since it looks like b*nQ is getting attention....anybody know definitively how it's pronounced? I've been pronouncing it "bonk," but I've heard it pronounced "bon-kyoo" too...
+save2600
Don't know it it's right or wrong, but I pronounce it Boink. And for the longest time, would just refer to it not as a name, but its letters. B N Q.

FWIW, the original title was "bonQ," so I guess the asterisk is a stylized "o".
+-^CrossBow^-
I would agree that the * is homage to the original Q*bert name and that it would more or less be pronounced as BonQ. Then again Q*bert isn't pronounced as QoBert is it?
bradhig1
All ir does is turn the snake into the Al*bertha enemy. I can't keep getting last place score cause after getting 525 points it just moves me up to number 20. I am sick and tired of this easter egg bs. I can't find the more mode code in atari 5200 beef drop and can't find the ultimate easter egg in Haunted Adventure Trilogy while I feel everyone else here knows how to find those and it makes my blood boil. Brad, I didn't even know that b*nq had easter eggs in it. So this whole thread is news to me on that game! I also own Beef Drop on the 7800 but wasn't aware that any version of that game had EEs in it either?
Trebor
I didn't even know that b*nq had easter eggs in it. You're breaking Al*bertha's heart... "PAUSE ON THE BALL BOUNCE HONEY" "MISS ALBERTHA WANTS TO MEET YA" ...There are a couple more statements.

kenfused
Pronounced as Bonk (at least that is how I do) (the * and big Q pay homage to Q*bert) Al*bertha is homage to Q*bertha from FHMC Q*bert. There should be another egg that changes the Title logo/name --Ken
Crimefighter
What really happened is you enabled "Faster Harder More Challenging Q*Bert" mode, FHMC of course was an unreleased ROM upgrade for Q*Bert arcade games that was put into the public domain by the author that added Q*Bertha, moving disks and bonus rounds.
kenfused
In b*nQ it doesn't really change the difficulty or gameplay though. I did consider adding fhmc mode but it would have delayed the game a bunch. And I didn't want to waste the graphic
Trebor
There should be another egg that changes the Title logo/name The second "Pause" related Easter Egg... Thanks Ken for a fantastic port...and including Easter Eggs!
Jinks
I have this game 2. I should pause it when starting someday. It is an excellent port!!
kenfused
The second "Pause" related Easter Egg... Qbert.PNG Thanks Ken for a fantastic port...and including Easter Eggs! I think I may have added saving the state of the logo to the savekey/atarivox but not 100% sure if I completed it.
+save2600
Hi Ken, absolutely love this game! Any chance you're working on or will do any more arcade ports? -edit- (besides Beef Drop which I have too)

So this turns the snake into a lovestruck female counterpart of the main character. It can still kill you though?
kenfused
So this turns the snake into a lovestruck female counterpart of the main character. It can still kill you though? in b*nQ, Al*Bertha has the exact same effects as Coily. IIRC, in FHMC Q*bert, Q*Bertha can flip cube colors back and fix cubes that have been turned into rainbow cubes, but she is still fatal to touch as is Coily. --Ken
