Strange SIDE/2 issue

Recommended Posts

Good morning, everyone!

I have two new issues, one involving the U1MB, and the one which I'll focus on with this topic.

I have a SIDE/2 cartridge which will not retain the time and date, even though I've replaced the RTC battery. I tested the battery in a separate SIDE/2 cart to verify that it works (it did).

Any suggestions on what to test or consider?

Thank you, in advance!

Could this be a problem with a noisy RESET line in the system? I had a similar problem with the U1MB itself in a 1200XL until I moved the board to an 800XL, after which it works fine. FJC and Matthias later determined that some systems (epsecially 1200XL's but not necessarily exclusively) have noisy RESET lines that can interfere with the values stored in the U1MB settings.

Given that you're having both U1MB problems *AND* problems with your SIDE2 in the same system, it might be worth exploring.
