Nebulon
Has anyone tried using a 1.2MB disk drive in a Color Computer 2 disk drive enclosure? I'm wondering if this will work or not, since I'm pretty sure the 360K PC disk drives will work on a CoCo in these enclosures (if memory serves). I've got a Panasonic JU-475-4 1.2MB that I was hoping to use on the CoCo (assuming the drive would act like a low-density drive in that context). https://amaus.net/static/S100/panasonic/diskette/panasonic%20JU-475%205inch%20floppy%20diskette%20drive.pdf
Mr SQL
I've used the 360K PC drives but had to change a jumper for them to work. Also had a 1.2 MB floppy drive in a PC configured to read and write the 160K/180K 35/40 track disk format before Y2K, they should work fine on the CoCo too. AtariLeaf
From the Cocopedia: 5.25" 1.2 meg drives are virtually useless on the CoCo. They are reportedly more like the old 8" drives than either other 5.25" or 3.5" drives. They also spin at a different rate (360 RPM rather than 300). Some may reportedly be jumpered to spin at 300 RPM and function as either 360K or 720K drives, but they would still not be reliable for use with true 360K media (just as they are not in PCs). http://www.cocopedia.com/wiki/index.php/Other_Floppy_Disk I have a drive that uses a 1.44Meg 3.5" drive that works with 720k disks for my "drive B" that I got from a coco user but originally was a custom job from Cloud9tech
