Flojomojo
Could have been a paid shill too. Follow the money. Not saying you're wrong, but I think a "useful idiot" is far more likely. Activist groups make it easy to rile people up and organize them in targeted ways. See https://www.peta.org/action/action-alerts/ for PETA's approach. They're not the only organization that does this, just the best known. Organizations like this don't make anyone do anything, they're not the law or government. If Roger the kangaroo was removed in response to protests, that was all Namco's decision. Has anyone played the game yet? I hear it scales nicely on PCs. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/06/tekken-7-review-get-ready-for-the-next-good-pc-fighting-game/ I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale, as fighting games always do. Reaperman
I don't mind kangaroos in fighting games, but did they have to fully MoCap all twelve decapitation fatalities?

xenomorpher
Not saying you're wrong, but I think a "useful idiot" is far more likely. I was kidding, but a useful idiot scenario I'd buy. What think though is it's actually someone who wants attention that may or may not hold PETA's beliefs. They should look up "jacked kangaroo" and see how "helpless" they really are. Andromeda Stardust
Sounds more like a chicken that's already been digested. PETA - People Eating Tasty Animals! Yummy...
danny_galaga
I refuse to give to any animal charities as they all seem to have to be linked to these shady groups who attack people. NAMCO should be ashamed of itself for giving into these kinds of people. You can't really lump them all together. PETA famously engage in dubious and sometimes violent activities to make their point and I think they are a bunch of hypochrites. But an organisation like the SPCA does what they can ethically without harassing and vandalising. And there are other smaller organisations that also do the right thing. PETA is very loud and so honest organisations get tainted...

Skippy B. Coyote
This just annoys the crap out of me, and I don't usually get annoyed by modern gaming issues. Now to give you some context here I have been a vegetarian for the last 12 years, I am a big proponent of animal rights, and I donate to and promote a couple animal charity organizations (https://www.saveavet.org & https://support.apopo.org/en ). But this, this is just ridiculous. PETA is crazy and Roger the kangaroo was always my favorite character in Tekken 2 back in the PS1 days. Putting aside the fact that video games are pure fantasy and harm no one, what could be a better glorification of animal rights than a kangaroo beating the ever living daylights out of a human? Sure, you could argue that it would depict violence against an animal if the human won the fight; but Roger the kangaroo is a total badass so that's not very likely to happen. SiberianSpForces
Next they'll go after King/Armor King saying that those men decapitated Jaguars for their masks.

What annoys me is that these companies are more afraid of pissing off loud activist groups than the people who actually buy their products. It's not like the activists are going to be like "yay, I can enjoy tekken now!" More like "Victory! On to the next target". And if you are upset by it, then you should be fighting back. Boycott products that do this, make your displeasure known, drown out the activists with complaints. Until that happens, our favorite things will keep getting altered by them.
