grizzly_addams
Hello folks! I am wanting to do proper adjustments to my vectrex using an oscilloscope but I do not own one. There are digital LCD scope kits that can be had for as little as 15 or $25 but they are only 200K and 1mhz respectively. Also likely not two channel. Would that be suitable to take measurements on the vectrex? If not what type and freq range should I be looking for? Specific recommendations welcome! Keatah
Another Vectrex! I seem to recall a cartridge that had the standard BNC connectors on them and "converted" a console into a real 10MHz 'scope with onscreen graticule. Yeh, those $20 kits are good for an entry level hobbyist. Or not much beyond graphing basic waveforms. Good for indicating the presence or absence of a signal more or less. If you want to get into it really good, I'd recommend getting something in the 50-100MHz range.
vectrex
Another Vectrex! I seem to recall a cartridge that had the standard BNC connectors on them and "converted" a console into a real 10MHz 'scope with onscreen graticule. I've never heard of such a thing, there are no analog pins available in the cart slot so there would have to be an ADC in there as well. The joystick ports bandwidth is something like 9k bits each I think so they wouldn't make for much of an oscilloscope as well. The Engine Analyzer cart doesn't take any signal inputs it is just a menu that can show you what the traces should look like on a scope hooked up to various engine configurations. Why not purchase a working analog scope from ebay? Find a reputable seller with 100% feedback. An HP or Tektronix one within your budget should do the job.
