Recently acquired an original Xbox and a PS2 - No sub-forum?

I guess they are somewhere in between modern and classic. :)

Can someone suggest a good place to go for good original Xbox information. I have a late production run console from 2005. I'm pretty sure I do not need to be concerned about the clock capacitor in my unit. For one it does work since it will keep the time when unplugged although I only tried it for a short time. Secondly, from what little I did uncover, the late models had a much better capacitor installed and it is needed in order for the unit to run at all.

Regardless, I want to open it up for a good cleaning and would like to know more about what to expect in doing so and what is suggested to upkeep or upgrade as far as preventive maintenance.

Same goes for the PS2 although that is a later project of mine.

I already asked this about lacks of certain sections and or having them just or high score posting. Didn't seem to be a totally straight answer but a list of general beliefs that made sense. It just comes down to need, necessity, and not leaving the general area too bare or too overly active on some system over another.

Huh, I just got one handed off to me and I had no idea there was a little bomb in it.

If you have one of the earlier units you might. It can do a lot of damage apparently but is easily fixed simply by removing that cap. It does not need to be replaced.

I know it is later project. But as far as PS2, I recommend getting a network adapter and Hard drive for it, and getting freeMcBoot installed on a memory card. So much nicer being able to load games from the hard drive and less wear and tear on the dvd drive.
