Flashback 64 - can it be modded?

I scanned the boards a little but didn't quite find an answer- can the Flashback 64 be modded to accept 2600 carts?

It is probably technically possible by perhaps someone involved with designing them maybe. I don't want to say it is impossible because as sure as I do someone would do it. But seriously though you want a Flashback 2 if you want to mod it to accept carts.

One possibility I've been thinking about myself which I haven't tried yet is to get a retrode(google it) and make a 2600 adapter to accept 2600 carts, and put that into a flashback unit and a raspberry pi. I'm not sure if the retrode would be supported by the raspberry pi as far as drivers goes or not. But if so you could do that perhaps.

The Flashback 2 is the VCS-on-a-chip and has the solder traces for easy addition of a cartridge slot.

 

The Flashback 64, and all the other AtGames Atari products, is software emulation and aren't suitable for this kind of thing. With them, what you buy is what you get.
