Video
I was thinking of building my own controller, and figured, since the 7800 only has one more button, and I think a resistor. Other than that their wired the same, so I was thinking of building a 7800 stick, it should work as normal on the 2600 right?
BigO
A couple of resistors, but yes the 7800 controller works on the 2600. The two fire buttons act identically on the 2600 rather than performing separate functions as on the 7800.
Video
BigO, I love that show, wish I could find it on video. Thanks for the info, I thought it was compatible, and for the few bucks in parts difference I figured "why not?" I can't recall ever trying it, and at the moment don't have my 7800 stuff so I can't just try and see. Thanks again!
BigO
I had the same thought when converting a Radica Space Invaders to a 2600 controller. Haven't used it with a 7800 yet, but it's there in case an emergency should arise.
edladdin
The diagram you want for wiring either a 2600 or 7800 controller is attached. I also produce an I/O board that makes wiring a 7800 controller as easy as possible. The "Easy 78" available from the AtariAge store for $15: https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1077
