Some last-minute catching up:

Light winning by elimination, no spells/elementals used, does this count for 4L and 5L?

Same with wizard sacrificed (6B), actually didn't use him during the above either ;) I still have the suspicion that this is easier for light thanks to my trusty unicorns.

And Light winning without wizard by capturing all power points (6A):

Light winning by capturing all power points (by mistake, would have managed elimination as well ;)) no spells, no unicorns (7A):

And finally 8b for Light, as you can see from the picture it was a fight to the last man:

We've reached the end of the Archon tournament and also the end of Season 14 of the 8-bit Atari High Score Club :-o :) Please can you check the table below and let me know if I've jipped you out of any precious points

Thank you for playing guys   It's been an interesting season with some unusual games. Archon didn't quite still have that magic for me but at least here we had some challenges to make it erm challenging. It's great for 2 player and while you learn the game it's a great experience. Warroom's movement is more like some of the Archon II Adept battles perhaps... and then there's the incredible "Mail Order Monsters" one day we will get this made to work with less disk swapping :)

Total HSC Points for this round

redthunder 37

trbb 33

slx 23

deteacher 19

erichenneke 17

After a lot of playing as the light side I should try and master all of the dark side pieces - I didn't have any success with the Banshee - did anyone? I did find the phoenix can be easily dummied against the computer by even a goblin. I was trying to keep the knights vs goblins pieces hidden in the blobs and to try and get above the opponent to hit them on the head - I think there may be some angles that are an advantage where you are harder to hit back.

Try this: Unicorn hide in top left corner vs Goblin :D

Maybe I'm cursing in church now, but I find the Banshee easier to move and more effective in the C64 version than in the Atari 8-bit version. Or perhaps it is the visual that on the C64 it builds a nice ring around it, while on the Atari it forms a romb.

The computer seems to get me with it (banshee) quite successfully so maybe I need to wait for their piece (knight) to go for the chop first perhaps run over their piece then activate it. When I was sacrificing pieces for the challenges I was trying to stay over the computer pieces and see how long I lasted - I thought it would annoy them at least :-D
