ianoid
I just got a C64 lot for some reason and the 1541 drive motor just stays on, and it doesn't seem to respond to the working C64 I have tried it with. Basically the green and red lights just stay on when I power on the disk drive. Note that this drive has an 8/9 device switch. It doesn't matter which device number I try, the motor still stays on. Any suggestions? Hopefully an easy or obvious fix?

landgraf
Any suggestions? Hopefully an easy or obvious fix? Unfortunately not that easy or obvious as a lot of chips can cause the symptoms you've described. See also Ray Carlsen's repair guide for which chips to check/replace: http://personalpages.tds.net/~rcarlsen/cbm/1541/1541chip.txt
