Of course there are workarounds, but every workaround adds more complexity and slowdown to the result. Not really. As "workarounds" would always be needed. Using the PMg for building the main background graphics does what? For example, it gives one char 5 different colors. The Plus/4 game has it's own obstacles, plus they add nice animations.
