scottyy
could this unit be wired with a cx40 joystick cable to work on an atari 400? https://shop.xgaming.com/collections/arcade-joysticks/products/x-arcade-tankstick-trackball-usb-included

mr_me
Yes it can, except for the trackball. The buttons and joysticks are just simple switches. Disconnect whatever usb encoder it has, find an atari 2600 joystick controller pinout, and wire up the joystick switches and buttons directly. Some atari 400 games use the keyboard; that would be more difficult to connect to buttons. Edited January 9, 2020 by mr_me
scottyy
thank you.... is there a way to make the track ball work... its great playing millepede with it!
mr_me
You can try hooking up the trackball. Fundamentally they might work similarly, but I'm guessing the resolution is very different.

Stumbled across this post so thought I'd update it for others looking for same. The newer better clones run Amlogic s812 at 1080P. They emulate up-to N64 consoles, offer save state. Using pandory you can change the aspect ratio on the fly reducing image distortion. As mentioned, joystick and button update is recommended to something like Sanwa. The challenge is their is a crazy amount of different Pandora boxes out their. auzdriver
2 years on and PI is still a lot of work to setup and the performance difference between PI and a good Pandora's box isn't that much. Pandora's box is literally plug and play.. and pack away when done without tinkering or headaches. I'm personally over spending more time tweaking, when I could just be playing. Keen to hear of consoles others have come across that are hassle free and play well. My current preference is either the rg351m for handheld or the pandora 18s with sanwa for arcade experience.
