Spyro Myths Awaken

Recommended Posts

Back in the 90s, Spyro the Dragon on the original Playstation was the game that got me back into consoles. Looking around my home, it's easy to see why :D

(and those are just a small sample of what you'll find)

I was very impressed with the original trilogy by Insomniac, and recently decided to replay them via OpenEMU. I was not so impressed with Spyro games made later by other companies due to poor controls and what-not.

While watching an episode of Crash Course Computer Science last night, this popped up as a suggestion. Hadn't heard of it before, but was very intrigued.

Pretty slick for a fan made game. I tracked down the holiday adventure mentioned in the video. It's Windows only, though it's written using Unity so hopefully they'll also release the finished game for Linux and Mac.

Also found a a wiki for it. Not a lot there yet, but it has had some recent updates.

Fake orange juice?

The tang is the unseen metal. Wall hangers usually have no tang and are just blades welded to the "hilt". With full tang the blade is one piece from top to bottom. The ones you have there look like they might have a full tang but are clearly machine made with a faux hamon. They look nice for sure though don't take me the wrong way on this. I was just curious if you had pretty ones or battle ones there is all :)

And of course, "no tang" which is like I mentioned above. This all might mean nothing to you so sorry for that. When I seen that katana, wazikashi and tanto set I had to ask :)

I was in fifth grade when it came out and was wanting to get it after I played the demo. It was one of those games that was so well done that it appealed to all ages. I ended up getting the sequel for Christmas sometime and loved it. It had the demo of the also great Crash Team Racing on it too. That fan game looks really promising. I can't wait until it's finished. Watching it makes me want to learn how to mod Doom. I've always wanted to make a conversion of Alien Trilogy, which is another game from my childhood, with new levels and weapons.

Thanks the info. No worries, they were a gift from my sister & brother-in-law (he would have known what you were talking about :) ) and has been up on the display cabinet ever since. I took a closeup and it definitely looks like the blade goes into the hilt. Whether it's full or half I couldn't tell. The blades haven't been sharpened, I recall my BIL mentioning that I could get that done.

One of my coworkers had a Playstation that died, he picked up a replacement on his lunch break. I was curious about it, so after hours he hooked it up to a projector in the conference room. Spyro was one of the games on the demo disk that came with his new unit. This was at a job I'd started at the end of 98, so I'd have been 32.

Soon after I took a trip to visit my brother and introduced my nephew to it, these are dated February 5, 1999:

I installed the demo on New New Toy last night. Quite slick, though I didn't care for the use of WASD control (I get motion sickness, so don't play FPS). Later on I watched this, and based on the comment @ 7:46 it's possible to use a gamepad, though I had one plugged in and it didn't work. Will have to look into that more later on today.
