Take the cover off and if you can operate the switch without the case, then there's a problem aligning the board/case/button. Yes, the missing screws can cause this... but only if the switch is working properly. Now it doesn't power up at all Better check the cartridge port. The cart port needs a cart securely inderted to power up. If the contacts are bent or dirty it might make it act funny.
