+xucaen
Sorry for the newbie question. I found an 800xl on ebay and want to get an A/V cable for it. (My TV is a large CRT with several A/V inputs). The INTERNET seems to be full of discussions about s-video and video mods and such. I am just looking for a standard A/V cable for the 800xl. Where is the best place to buy one? (I'm in Massachusetts) I looked on ebay and could only find this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Color-Composite-Video-A-V-Monitor-Cable-Atari-DIN-to-RCA-for-800-XL-XE-6-New/130888382784?hash=item1e798e3940:g:dU4AAMXQbcRQ4zp6 If this is the one I need I'll buy it, just looking for some advice. Thanks! \\//, Edit: I also found it on Best Electronics, I am thinking this is the one I should get> CB101280E2 Atari Enhanced 2nd Generation Composite Video Cable $17.95 http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/power%20guide.htm#Composite Edited June 28, 2018 by xucaen

+Nezgar
Keep in mind that a stock NTSC 800XL only has Audio, Composite and Luma (greyscale) output, and is missing Chroma. For Luma+Chroma (SVideo) internal mods are needed... If all you need is Audio+Composite, you'll be fine. I have no idea what chroma is it why I would want it. If audio+composite will give me sounds and a color picture on my tv then that's what I want. Luma+chroma (s-video) just improves the picture quality/sharpness further, which is optional, and as you mentioned don't need anyway.

If audio+composite will give me sounds and a color picture on my tv then that's what I want. Chroma + Luma(AKA s-video) is normally better quality video than composite. 8-Bit Classics sells several video cables for the Atari8, with 2 giving the option of composite & s-video, the chroma/luma output can be mini-DIN4(normal s-video) or dual RCA(Commodore 1702 monitor) Their cables including s-video only cost $2 more than their composite only cable, and allow the option of getting the better quality video if you connect chroma to the monitor port of your 800XL. Composite + dual mono audio: $9.99 + S&H Composite + mini-DIN4 s-video + dual mono audio $11.99 + S&H Composite + dual-RCA chroma/luma + dual mono audio: $11.99 + S&H Edited June 28, 2018 by BillC

Level42
You can buy any run-of-the-mill 5pin DIN male to 4x RCA cable for about 3 or 4 dollars or euros and it will work fine. Just don't expect the yellow connector to be the composite video, it's probably another one. Simply try all connectors and you'll get a picture from one, and sound from another. https://www.ebay.com/itm/0-5M-1-5M-5-PIN-MIDI-DIN-PLUG-to-4-RCA-PHONO-MALE-PLUGS-AUDIO-CABLE-LEAD-CORDS/282487178472?hash=item41c58c44e8%3Am%3AmG0XSi5bFO4zoh6rkmLlHSg&var=581636762418 (Be sure to get a long enough one, 0,5m is usually too short, 1,5m is usually OK.
