I haven't touched the board since assembly was finished. I haven't ordered my panels. Also dealing with a foot problem causing me great pain and difficulty walking. Making an appointment with a specialist in the next few days to see what is going on with that. Hopefully things are a bit better now on both counts
+Stephen
Yes - thanks! Work has calmed down, my 1088XLD is fully assembled with front panel. I am still waiting on some parts for a vid cable though, so it has not been powered up / tested yet.
AtariGeezer
Cool, looking good ? I'm sure yours will power up first time. I'm saving my Sophia for the XLD build...
+mytek
Status: To date, no problems reported by BETA Testers. Final tweaks to board layout are nearly completed, still waiting on the decision on whether additional signals need to be broken out for possible cheap 65816 acceleration board, which will have its first prototype test in about 1-2 weeks (dependent upon PCB delivery).
+Firedawg
Now that is something to celebrate!!! Looking forward to this project as I did the last. Thanks Michael! Mike

Will it be possible to use this board on the 1088XEL also ?

If the proposed "cheap 65816 acceleration board" works in the upcoming XLD tests, then my plan is to also make an XEL specific version that will actually have both the 65816 circuit and the IDE circuit all on one board. This way there won't be any issues as there is now with having full access to the CPU that is partially covered by the CF3 board. Also I'll be improving the buffering on the IDE circuit to match what's currently in use on the XLD. The chips from the CF3 will be reusable for this new board. Here's a preliminary layout for a combined XEL-CF3 and 65816 board which simultaneously plugs into the MPBI port and piggybacks the CPU (this layout is incomplete and still missing a few components). When more is known, I'll move this discussion into the 1088XEL thread, and/or start a new topic specifically about this new "proposed" 65816 accelerator board aimed at the 1088 series systems.
+Stephen
Another one has powered up! After sadly frying a PAL ANTIC last night due to having the IC installed backwards, I fixed the other issue (no jumper on the VBXE header). I'll update the U1MB tonight and get the board installed in the case.

Very good timing ?. I just posted the final schematics and board layouts on my 1088XLD page. I can now see the end of the journey approaching in the near distance, and soon the announcement of a production run will probably be heard. Looks like Christmas wishes might come true after all .
+Stephen
Having a hopefully minor issue here. I cannot get the TK-2 to properly initialize a keyboard, and am getting some strange noise (a whine) on bootup, even with no PoKeys nor the S2 installed. I'm leaving for a weekend vacation after tomorrow, so I won't have any progress reports until early next week.

Stephen you probably need a helper to locate and fix the problem when you sleep, like this little mouse that cleans up the work bench at night. 1

REALLY, ask Doc Brown (& Nikola Tesla): If you can manipulate Gravity, then you can manipulate Space / Time. Think about it. That video you posted was very entertaining ?, and somebody really needs to call Elon Musk and tell him that someone already beat him to Mars, and that he can stop wasting money on his rockets. BTW, just for those that don't know, getting a patent doesn’t mean that the invention actually works, or that the idea is sound. During my time working in the ultra low temperature realm, I was personally involved with obtaining 3 patents on which I'm listed as the inventor and/or co-inventor. In all 3 cases we were never asked to prove that the invention actually worked, or to provide a working model. You gotta love the enthusiasm of the people behind any of these anti-gravity, time travel, free power, ect. schemes. But I usually file this stuff with the 100 mpg carburettor that the oil companies supposedly squashed. Makes for great Sci-Fi ? . 2
