Dumb idea: simulate GameLine with VOIP lines and a Starpath Supercharger

It occurs to me it would be pretty easy to recreate the GameLine distribution system with free VOIP service and WAV files of popular games.

1. Set up a bank of free Google Voice numbers

2. Load the WAV audio of different Atari 2600 games as greetings

3. Dial in with a regular phone, output the audio to your line in jack on a StarPath Supercharger

4. Load the audio into your Atari 2600

5. Play games!

I assume the GameLine loaded actual binaries instead of audio files, but seems like that could be reverse engineered, too.

Pros: cheap, easy, no computer needed

Cons: completely stupid way to transfer kilobytes of data via needlessly complex delivery mechanism, but hey, people are buying the Retron77, which isn't so different.
