SoundGammon
Very cool I really enjoy simple, no thrills review videos without fancy intros and calls to hit 'subscribe' and/or a 'like button'. To me these kind of (review) videos are what YouTube is all about. Definitely I found both reviews to be really informative, direct, to the point, and transparent. Kudos to this guy. I need to look at more of his stuff, especially when he reviews things with hand written lists and a baton of some kind Still no CASINO? Weird! Hwlngmad
Indeed. One would think that would be on there, but alas not. Perhaps one day one of these all-in-one paddle units will include more paddle games than just the standard 12 to 13. Still no CASINO? Weird! Flojomojo
Perhaps simulated gambling is a no-no? But BLACKJACK is still on there. Maybe some of these attractive models asked for royalties every time the game is sold? It's a good-looking bunch. Maybe it's because of the goblin lurking in the eaves. He looks like Eggman/Robotnik! Hwlngmad
Probably they left it off considering that Stunt Cycle is on the system, and Backgammon and Blackjack were left on. Still, just put all of the (Atari) paddle games on one unit and then improve the product via more (3rd party) games and/or improved hardware. I believe that is what AtGames needs to do for the next iteration of this product IMO.

Hwlngmad
Not from what I have seen and/or read. You would think it would have been on there at some point. I wonder what the (legal) holdup is? Is Casino on any flashback?
Hydro Thunder
I am still awaiting the prospect of a unit that both 1) comes with paddle controllers and Kaboom!, 2) includes Demon Attack (and others that have been included of course). So far I'm stuck on FB8 with a combination of the Activision Gold and the Deluxe versions to get that. I will say, I LOVE that FB9 has Tutankham & Gyruss. That is just too awesome. Pipe dream wishes: SD Card (along with an emulator that runs bank-switching homebrews flawlessly), perfect sound, Subterranea, and / or 2600 Frogger and Space Invaders. Atariboy
Bill, is it normal for the DECO games on the Legends Flashback to not have audio? Been watching some YouTube footage and have seen three such arcade games so far that are all silent. Defective unit, or perhaps a problem with the emulator? And I suppose without knowing their setup, maybe it's even an issue with their equipment like some have encountered with the Atari Flashback 9 and Retron '77 with the frequency of the audio that Stella puts out not playing well with capture setups? No audio in the DECO games would be a significant issue for me, since for the built-in lineup it's the early Data East stuff that most interests me here. The DECO games do have audio, so I don't know what the issue is in those cases. Worst case, we can issue a firmware update, but from what I've seen it's working.
+stephena
Defective unit, or perhaps a problem with the emulator? And I suppose without knowing their setup, maybe it's even an issue with their equipment like some have encountered with the Atari Flashback 9 and Retron '77 with the frequency of the audio that Stella puts out not playing well with capture setups? This is at least a possibility with older versions of Stella, and still is in fact in Stella 5. It defaults to 31400Hz for audio frequency, and while any PC made in the past 15 years can handle it, maybe some capture devices cannot. There is the possibility to change to 44100, but it distorts the sound (higher pitch normally). This is fixed in Stella 6, where the native sound output is resampled to either 44100 or 48000, making it much more compatible with capture devices. We hope to release Stella 6 sometime in December. Note that this may not be the reason at all for what you're noticing; just throwing it out there that older (and current) versions of Stella do use what some apps would consider a non-standard sampling rate.
Atariboy
Thanks guys. I might just bite the bullet and buy one of these even though I had planned on waiting to see how it hopefully evolves. I know the emulator for the later arcade games has some issues that hopefully will get ironed out by summer and that we can't yet load our own arcade games (And I suppose possibly may never be able to, although I fully expect it to be figured out shortly). but I like the selection of early 80's stuff present here out of the box. Hopefully the audio is a bit better than the G1M2 work on Data East Arcade Classics was for the Wii. Burgertime wasn't hit hard and Burnin' Rubber just had some minor audio annoyances with the engine noise cutting in and out, but it absolutely ruined Lock 'n' Chase on that compilation. tiktok4321
I walked into WalMart last night and decided to wander over to the huge AtGames end cabinet in Electronics with all the Blasts. They're being sold for $18.88. Not a bad price. I had previously seen a Pac Man 12-in-1 Connect and Play for $13.88. First thought, "Holy Cow! There are WAY too many choices!" As I started reading up on the specs, I was generally impressed with the wireless HDMI dongle. A did a bit of reading up on AtGame's website. Many offer two player games, but said "a 2P controller is required". Maybe Bill can clarify if this is a special 2P controller that is compatible with all the various Blast modules, or if you need a separate one for the separate units. Also not clear if you can 2P with a 2nd controller of the same kind. As I was wading through the multiple varieties, I couldn't tell if they were arcade ports, Atari ports, NES ports or other. Glad I found this thread! Looks like Legends Flashback Blast! may be the only one with arcade ports? But then, looking at the images on the website, many clearly show Atari boxart, which is confusing because there are three other ATARI Blasts and an Activision Blast, which I can't determine if they are Arcade or Atari ROMs, too. I'm not wholly convinced that Sardonyx's list of Arcade ports is accurate - there are way more games listed than I think are being offered on the non-Atari based Blast! series, which there are only 8 BanDai and some of on the Flashback Blast. Besides, the box art on the AtGames website clearly show Atari cartridge boxes, though that probably doesn't mean anything. I concluded that I was plenty happy with the 2017 (or '16) Flashback Portable that I got at the flea market for $15. I may go back and get the BanDai PacMan for $13.88. It's an open box, but I'll just have to see. Mixed reviews, but for $13, how can I go wrong? And it has 12 arcade ports! I would love to see fewer products that are excellent than more products that are so-so. Bill, I appreciate y'all bringing these classics back. I think there is a bit of over-saturation in the market, though, and superior quality will be what I, personally, will be looking for. Oh yeah, for less than $30. All Blast!-branded products released to date feature home console versions or home ports of the games indicated. Only the full-size Legends Flashback console features actual arcade ROMs at this time. When we eventually release the P2 Blast! controller, it can be paired to any Blast! at any time. And yes, the retro market is quite saturated at this point, but we have some interesting plans for 2019.

I'm sorry that the arcade ROMs didn't make it in. I look forward to 2019. SO - for now, there is no 2P capability? And, do you have to change the dongle for each variation of Blast! you buy? Finally - is that an Apple IIe in your avatar?

There is no way to get two player with the Blast! until we release the separate P2 controller. And yes, the P2 controller is fully independent, but the controller that comes with the micro-console dongle is keyed to its dongle. Yes, an Apple IIe Platinum next to a Vectrex. +bcombee
I wonder if the lack of "Casino" is due to "Atari Casino" being an ongoing business concern: https://www.atari.com/atari-casino/
Hwlngmad
That's a good point. However, you wouldn't think that would inhibit "Atari Casino" being on FB unit of some kind. scottyy
when will the P2 controller be available? https://fccid.io/2AMTQFBC342P2/User-Manual/User-manual-4094920.pdf
scottyy
from atgames........ The controllers that come with the Blast! are programmed to work as the first player on the device. Meaning, 1P controllers cannot be programmed to work as a second player. Additionally, though we had planned a player two controller, it has been tabled as we focus on the launch of our 2020 line of products this year.
