unauthorized sequals

Recommended Posts

I was sitting here playing burgertime and I remembered that Peter Pepper had an unlicensed afaik sequal on the intellivision only called diner. Now, since at the time of the release the intellivision was only supported by mail order, do you think data east pretty much turned a blind eye to it? Do you think they would have been more upset if the game would have sold more copies and been on a better selling system? Remember, Midway made Ms Pacman without the ok from namco, and namco got quite angry with midway.. but then again ms pac man was a huge hit..

KC Munchkin is NOT an "unauthorized sequel" to Pac-Man, let alone even a sequel to Pac-Man. It's a Pac-Man clone with some similarities to the original inspiration that unfortunately got the axe.

Speaking on the subject, though, we do have "unauthorized sequels" for 2600 games in the form of hacks (Venture II, Yar's Defeat, Yar Vs. Yar), though I doubt they can really be called sequels at all.
