bfollowell
I've started cleaning up my old STF, getting started on a full restoration. I had to remove this insulation sheet on the under side of the keyboard PCB to get at all of the screws. As you can see, it's really yellowed and the glue is really old and in bad shape. I'm certain many of you have ran into the same issue in the past. I'm wondering if I should try to use Goo Off or WD-40 or some other solution that's good at removing adhesive to remove the old glue, then use something else to reapply it afterwards, or if I'd be better off making something new out of some other thin, non-conductive material. Anyone have any sage advice to offer? Thanks.
adam1977
It's definitely needed, as without it the keyboard would short out on the motherboard shielding Try some double side tape to stick it back on.

Actually, rather than using any sort of adhesive that's likely to run into the same issue in time, I was thinking of cutting a really thin piece of cardboard, something like a spiral notebook cover or something similar, and covering the whole RF shield under the keyboard.
