+sm3
Seems someone else is making these 512k RAM upgrades now for the CoCo3: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283317666650 They have a website as well: https://boysontech.com/ I only had heard of the Cloud-9 Triad until spotting this on eBay. This has been talked about quite a bit on Discord and on CoCoTalk! With the add on CPU board (Guardian+ board) you can use the rest of the on board's 2MB. http://cocotalk.live/ Edited December 28, 2018 by JamesD Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/286472-another-coco3-512k-ram-upgrade/#findComment-4185279 Share on other sites

I guess I have more machines than time to keep up with it all Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/286472-another-coco3-512k-ram-upgrade/#findComment-4185287 Share on other sites
haightc
I'm just picked up a a CoCo3 so I am pretty new to the scene. My first computer of my own was a Tanay 1000. It seems like the Boyston kits sell out pretty quick, the combo guardian + boomerang seems to the same price as the Cloud-9 traid. It seem like a lot of seira titles required 512k. I fired Mickey's Space Adventure, as it was one of my old T1000 favorites. Since the game was all in black and white, I assume this is one those games that expect composite for color. My question is there enough titles that might take advantage of the extra RAM from one of Boyston kit to make it worth waiting for? You can buy direct from their website as well: https://boysontech.com/marketplace One of the main reasons I bought it was for: http://users.axess.com/twilight/sock/dk/ I don't know enough about the Color Computer to list what games are available for it that need 512k though. JamesD
Some titles require a series of PEEKs or POKEs to disable part of the 2MB because their authors ignored the possibility of the MMU having access to more RAM. ksbex
AFAIK nothing requires more than 512K but you can use the extra memory in NitrOS9. You can disable the extra memory with peeks or pokes as JamesD mentioned or the DAT board includes a jumper that can disable the extra memory. I wired it to a switch that I hid in the weird space by the cart slot under my CoCo so I can flip it down to 512KB if necessary. 2 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/286472-another-coco3-512k-ram-upgrade/#findComment-4215823 Share on other sites
