+sixersfan105
Is this auction from a few weeks back to be believed? $985 + shipping?! It appears to be complete with all inserts and it's an A1 unit. It has the first-run (purple with checker box) manual, but the later iteration box. This just seems, I don't know, maybe $700 or so beyond its value, unless I'm missing something? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vintage-Atari-7800-Electronic-Arcade-Video-Game-Console-System-NEW-IN-BOX-/192895450472?hash=item2ce976fd68%3Ag%3AzpkAAOSw8kFcuQjK&nma=true&si=wD26bMChdQY5vi21h40iB9LxpI8%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/291163-atari-7800-nib-sold-for-nearly-1000/ Share on other sites

Shawn
That second place bidder looks to have shill bid the fuck out of that auction. Smells pretty fishy to me. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/291163-atari-7800-nib-sold-for-nearly-1000/#findComment-4274885 Share on other sites
derFunkenstein
That second place bidder looks to have shill bid the fuck out of that auction. Smells pretty fishy to me. I had something like that in an auction that just ended for me. Same guy placed like 15 bids but didn't win. I assure you that wasn't someone I knew shill bidding it up. That stuff backfires. 1 Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/291163-atari-7800-nib-sold-for-nearly-1000/#findComment-4275012 Share on other sites

ProperRogue
For supposedly being NIB, that one controller has a great deal of crud on it. How would that even happen? +sixersfan105
For supposedly being NIB, that one controller has a great of crud on it. How would that even happen? That's a good point - hadn't caught that. Unless it's the lighting playing tricks? I agree that it looks like crud, though. It would appear that both controllers do have the plastic coverings over the nameplates. NIB also must be taken with a grain of salt because obviously all of the components have been taken out of the box, etc. Who knows... gamecomposer
I found a new in box 7800 (newly listed) a few days after this one. It isn't complete... but other than a few manuals/inserts, it hasn't been used from the looks of it. Listed at BIN for $75. Nabbed it right away, within 10 minutes of being listed. I checked all the completed listings I could find and I didn't find any boxed, never mind new, Atari 7800's for a $75 BIN. You care to share the link? gamecomposer
Oh yeah it wasn't new on box, sorry of the confusion. I used BIN at that price, they didn't even have bidding for it. Was from an estate sale apparently, and was the only game related thing too Quote Link to comment https://forums.atariage.com/topic/291163-atari-7800-nib-sold-for-nearly-1000/#findComment-4275900 Share on other sites
