Jason_Atari
Picked up this Spike's Peak/Chick Norris Superkicks xonox double ender cart the other day and soon realized that the label was lifting. I was surprised to see underneath another label for Chuck Norris Superkicks/Artillery Duel. It looks like at the factory they either put the wrong label on it and swapped it out, or reused unsold carts for other games, thoughts? +Psionic
If the screws were already exposed like that when you removed the top label, that would seem to indicate that they swapped out the PCB at the factory as well. There could've been a number of reasons for this, including a bad batch of cartridges or carts received as returns.
Atari_Bill
I’ve got one of these “double labels” as well but I don’t recall which combo it is.
CPUWIZ
I've stripped probably a hundred over the years, I've seen this many times.
Scotterpop
Interesting! This reminds me of the famous “butcher” cover for the Beatles Yesterday and Today album. I didn’t realize this practice spilled over into other media like video games.
+save2600
Xonox's quality control must've really sucked BITD. I've seen double-ended carts where one side was outfitted with a PAL chip. Wonder how many of those they caught or customers returned... can envision a "returns department" simply breaking through the label, slapping an NTSC board in, then slapping a new label on. The people that had older TV's where the screen didn't roll (or had the adjustment on their TV) probably just dealt with it - or didn't play the crappy side. ha
