I can tell you on Level 2, you go to the right to find the crown, then have to double back to the left to find the door (I haven't made it to the door yet.)  I feel I have to get through level 1 without losing a life in order to have enough lives to get through level 2.  It's hard!

CotC - Thanks, I just beat level 1 before reading this! I ignored the arrow and went left on the 2nd stage, not a good idea. It's not a bad game at all, so we'll run until next Sunday as originally planned.  154,500

 

Crowland - Arrgh, I think I've identified the main problem with it; it's the uncertainty of if you can or should kill each baddie - in order to try you repeatedly die and have to restart the stage, so you end up just being safe I guess. Very frustrating.

Conquest of the Crown 227,500 still on 2nd stage, stupid game!

OK I completed Crownland!158,500 I see how why that Castle stage is tricky as that's about it for the game, I was really near the end of  stage each time, just started looking out for my 4 life blocks a bit more. OK now the game is too short!! My washed out photo's don't really show the great colours on my PAL CRT TV:

Conquest of the Crown 234,500 Need to try and save more men from the first stage to get further on the 2nd. You can duck for a limited period, not sure if collecting the fot things do anything apart from score

Conkers 353,000 Got the crown on 2nd level but not made it back past the start screen yet, the more you play the better it gets, just master the turn repositioning to avoid falling off

There are a couple of youtube vids of Conquest of the Crown showing the first level - note they do not avoid the baddies much, you can usually position yourself on the previous screen to save from falling into them :)

12000 in a last-minute attempt on Crownland. Obviously lack relevant Mario experience...

COTC a measly 57000. I don't really get it.

And a last-minute improvement to 23600 points in Crownland. Finally managed to complete the first section. I did make a savestate of that for further non-HSC exploration as I simply don't feel like I have the lifetime remaining to play 1-1 over and over again....seems I have grown accustomed to continues and a more exploratory type of gameplay where I want to see it all, not necessarily play a perfect session to reach the end (Shamus+ excluded ;)).

OK the Round is Over!

"So can anyone beat Conquest of the Crown level 2?!" No trbb past, but I came close and got to what I think was the last room on the left, it had some sort of bars on the top left. Improved score to 354,500, nice game worth pursuing if you like that kind of thing. I wonder how many levels there are. With practice you can complete the first level without losing a life. Crowland we have discussed. I might review both of these for a furture Pro(c) Mag ! Yes Issue 14 might be out soon folks
