Found: Sega Genesis model 2

Hello all!

 

I just bought a model 2 Genesis from a local store and I'm looking for another one. The one I just bought, the reset button doesn't work at all. I would go back and get another one from the store I bought it from. The thing is, the other one at the store looks like worse garbage than the one I bought. This one did look pretty bad, but I spent a lot of time cleaning it and polishing and it looks pretty good. So I'm not really concerned about the condition. It just has to work. I don't really need one right at this moment. Having the reset button faulty isn't too bad. It just kinda irks me.

 

Suggestions? ...Comment?

Changing out the reset button on the model 2 isn't that difficult and I would think it would be best if the condition of the system as a whole is at a level you are wanting, then it would be best to replace the reset button or find someone who is close by to do that for cheap.

I unscrewed the unit and pushed the reset button on the main board.

 

...no luck.

Does the reset button physically push down and spring back yet it does not reset the console, or does it not physically move?

It moves...it springs back. It just doesn't work. I believe the reset is doa.

I've used a soldering iron only a handful of times. I could try I guess.
