Mott
Hi I just got a replacement Atari back from a seller. It worked great for half hour but going back to it the controller is non working unless I push the lead on the pins which isn't ideal.. The power lead socket is also loose and randomly turns off(guessing its a solder issue) For a consol that's supposed to be refurbished and tested I would expect it to work. Any ideas on the port? Controller works fine in port 2 Mott
Jason_Atari
I would say both the power socket and the joystick port 1 need to be resoldered. Over extended use of inserting plugs they can sometimes break a solder contact resulting in intermittent connection.

Good idea I will crack it open later and take a look, I was reading that a lot were badly soldered in the factory.. I guess the clue is a gentle push on input makes it work.. Thanks for the reply Mott
Mott
Re soldered power plug the thing was floating in the breeze. Found an obvious DSJ and once fluxed and new solder all now works like a charm

I think when I have more time I will check the entire board as it was bought as a refurbished unit and yes the case is immaculate the inside looks like it was stored in a davy Jones locker.
