Play using the default settings. Emulation is fine, as are custom controls. Pics preferred, but not required except for HSC wins and records. The current record was set by Mangia-Boy with 73,740 points. Bust it if you can for a bonus point. If you want to see a masterpiece then check the Colecovision version. If you want to see a masterpiece then check the Colecovision version. I played around with the Colecovision version on my Mega Sg, and indeed it's a LOT better than the 5200 version. The controls are much snappier than the 5200 controls, though that might be down to bad emulation on OpenEmu.
