I have three 800XLs - one of which is completely socketed all the way down to the discrete logic chips, one of which has the main chips including OS and BASIC ROMs if I recall correctly, and the last of which has only the five main Atari DIP40 IC's socketed (CPU, POKEY, ANTIC, GTIA and PIA). The good news for you is that XL PCB's are very well made and durable. Provided you know what you're doing, you're not likely to damage any traces or through-holes. Pix Retro
Yeah its a nice looking board... Doesnt feel like i could snap it accidentally... Worst comes to the worst i could probably sell the case for what i paid for it and add it to my rack mount project and slowly fix it over time...
