Foot pedal

Hello

 

i recently bought thrust+. I bought a foot pedal seperatly, does anyone know can I use the basic original Atari joystick or do I need to use the driving controller? 
 

im trying to use the original joystick and foot pedal? I’ve gotten some of the foot pedal green yellow buttons to work. But it’s random. 
 

does anyone know if I can use a regular controller or do I need the driving controller? 
 

my foot pedal maybe doesent work although I’ve gotten it to work a little
